Medicaid and Public Health Partnerships

ASTHO supports state health agencies by providing information and technical assistance to facilitate partnerships with Medicaid. These activities encompass a range of payment and delivery reform initiatives such as the State Innovation Models (SIM) Initiative and promoting collaborative opportunities between Medicaid and public health that will achieve the Triple Aim of better care, reducing costs, and improving population health outcomes.

CDC’s 6|18 Initiative

ASTHO is collaborating with the CDC, Center for Health Care Strategies, and other partners on the CDC’s 6|18 Initiative to help inform state/territorial health agency and Medicaid implementation of 6|18 strategies to address high-burden, high-cost health conditions—tobacco use, high blood pressure, inappropriate antibiotic use, asthma, unintended pregnancies, and diabetes.
