Rhode Island's Experience Building Cross-Sector Partnerships

The shift to virtual schooling due to the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted many benefits of in-person education, including how positive relationships between children and school staff help improve academic achievements and mitigate poor health outcomes. Rhode Island's state education and public health departments aligned their efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of youth during the pandemic. Through the innovative Education Department Operations Center, the two departments coordinated their response with local education agencies.
