Improving Diabetes Screening and Referral to Prevention Programs: A Healthy People 2020 Spotlight on Health

A webinar hosted by ODPHP and the Diabetes Advocacy Alliance

The new federal diabetes screening guideline has the potential to identify millions more people with diabetes or at risk for diabetes – but only if it is widely adopted and consistently used. Similarly, strong evidence shows the effectiveness of lifestyle interventions in delaying or preventing the onset of diabetes, but health care providers need to refer their patients appropriately to evidence-based diabetes prevention programs.

Join us for a Healthy People 2020 webinar, featuring leading diabetes experts who will review the new screening guideline and Medicare’s new focus on diabetes prevention, share insights from research as to why screening and referrals to prevention programs may not be at optimal levels, and provide examples from a community based organization that has improved rates of screening and referrals.
