An Effective Public Health Response to a Severe Influenza Outbreak Will Take More than $12 Billion In joint letters to the appropriations committees of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, ASTHO and NACCHO said an extended and severe [influenza] outbreak would cost public health agencies up to $3 B for a 12-week week response and another $9 B in mass vaccination costs.  Read testimony.  (06-04-09)
